KETELES Electric Bike Crank Replacement Guide

In case the crank on your KETELES bike is damaged or not working, you can replace it by following the steps below.
This article describes the replacement of the crank on a KETELES bike and applies to all KETELES e-bike models.
Tools needed:
• Wrench
• 8 mm Allen key
• Crank puller for standard square-taper cranks
• Replacement cranks for KETELES

Remove the old cranks
Remove the crank bolts. Have a friend stabilize the bike if needed, then use an 8mm Allen wrench to remove the crank arm bolts by turning them counterclockwise. Set the bolts aside for reinstallation.

Prepare the crank puller.

Prepare the crank puller so that the inner bolt or press is under the outer end of the tool. Carefully thread the outer portion of the tool clockwise into the crank by hand. The outer portion of the crank puller will thread easily when properly aligned. Be careful not to cross-thread or damage the threads.

Use a crank puller to press the crankarm off the bottom bracket. Holding the crank arm, push the tool handle down to engage the inner bolt, which will press against the bottom bracket and eventually (sometimes abruptly) break the crankarm free.

Remove the crank.

If removing the right crank and chain, let the chain hang.

Installing the New Crank

1. Locate the new crank and crank bolts.
2. Orient the new crank so that it aligns with the other crank, as shown below, and press the crank onto the square-taper mount.

3. Install the crank arm bolts. Carefully screw the bolts onto the crank arm by hand. Use an 8 mm hexagonal wrench or torque wrench to tighten the crank arm bolts to 35 Nm.

4. If the chain was removed, reinstall it.

5. Test the chain. Support the bicycle on a stand with the rear wheel off the ground, and rotate the crank backwards to rotate the rear wheel. Check that the chain is properly installed on the chainring.

Install the pedals
1. Locate the pedals. If you need to install two pedals, identify each pedal by the sticker and markings on the pedal axle. The left pedal has a groove on the axle. The right pedal has a smooth axle. Set the pedal next to the correct crank.
2. Check that the crank arm threads are clean and dry. If necessary, clean the threaded portion of the crank arm with a clean, dry paper towel. Dirt and grit can cause damage during installation or use.
4. Install the pedals.
A. To install the right pedal:
a. On the right side of the bicycle, carefully screw in the right pedal by hand, turning clockwise (toward the front of the bicycle). Be careful not to cross-thread or damage the threads

B. Install the Left Pedal:
a. On the left side of the bicycle, carefully thread the left pedal in by hand, turning counterclockwise (toward the front of the bicycle). Be careful not to cross-thread or damage the threads.

5. Tighten the pedals securely. Once the pedals are fully screwed into the correct cranks, use a spanner or torque wrench to adjust the pedal torque to 35 Nm.

6. Reinstall the battery and fully test the bike before riding.
